Current responsibilities

Robert H. VeShancey is a Managing Director and head of Agency Leasing for JLL located in the company’s Mid-Atlantic region.

Bob’s other responsibilities include a variety of related services such as strategic planning, due diligence, acquisitions and dispositions on behalf of corporate and institutional clients throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

In his role as head of Agency Leasing, Bob oversees 53 agency leasing brokers in Baltimore, DC Metro, Richmond and Hampton Roads. His management responsibilities include annual budgeting, recruiting, management of new business pursuits and fostering connections across the platform to help support and improve agency leasing best practices to our clients. Bob also serves on the JLL National Agency Leadership Council and the JLL Mid Atlantic Training Council.

Experience

Bob joined JLL in 1998 as part of the acquisition of COMPASS Management and Leasing, Inc. He joined COMPASS in October 1995 as a senior Leasing Manager.

Bob has been a broker focusing on agency leasing in Northern Virginia for over 30 years. Past and current clients include Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, AEW Capital Management, Quadrangle Development Corporation, Monday Properties, Comstock Companies, American Real Estate Partners and many others. Bob’s team has focused on major ground up pre-leasing and speculative construction and has been involved in some of the largest and most noteworthy leases in Northern Virginia over the past two decades. Notable major transactions include the Corporate Executive Board (now Gartner Group), Center for Naval Analysis, Avalon Bay, Microstrategy, ICF and Neustar.

Education

Bob is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Affiliations

He is active in industry organizations such as NAIOP and GWCAR, and is licensed as a real estate salesperson in Virginia and Maryland.
