Rich Thompson is an International Director and leads the global Supply Chain & Logistics Solutions team for JLL. 

Rich is responsible for leading highly experienced consulting professionals focused solely on delivering value to clients by formulating and implementing solutions to complex supply chain/logistics issues.

Rich is a recognized supply chain veteran with over 25 years of combined consulting and industry experience. Rich has experience working in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing results for a wide range of clients across a number of industries. He specializes in supply chain strategy, transportation and distribution, network optimization, third party logistics, and global logistics management.

Experience
Rich has held senior positions in both industry and consulting. Prior to joining JLL , Rich was a Partner with Charter Consulting, a privately-held strategy and operations firm, and a Senior Vice President and Corporate Officer with Schreiber Foods, a $6 billion global food company, where he was accountable for supply chain management including the transportation, distribution, and inventory management functions.

Prior to joining Schreiber, Rich was a Partner with Ernst & Young and a member of the firm's global supply chain consulting practice leadership team. He has served as a consultant for over 100 corporations across the world.  Rich began his career at Airborne Express where he held progressive management positions in both the domestic and international divisions.

Education/Affiliations
Rich has been an active member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) since 1989, the Warehouse Education Research Council (WERC), the Editorial Advisory Board for DC Velocity magazine, and serves on the Business Advisory Committee at Northwestern University's Transportation Center.


His research work with The University of Chicago and The University of Tennessee as well as other articles have appeared in numerous industry journals including Supply Chain Management Review, Logistics Management, Supply & Demand Chain Executive, CSCMP Comment, and The Journal of Commerce.  He is a frequent speaker and panelist.

In 2010, Rich was selected as one of DC Velocity's annual "Rainmakers", recognizing his "lasting contributions to the supply chain management profession". 

Rich holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Miami University (Ohio) and an M.B.A. degree in Finance and Marketing from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
