As the Managing Director and Team Lead of the North Texas retail group at JLL, Michael Wheat is responsible for driving the expansion of retail services across the Dallas-Fort Worth market. He will focus on landlord and tenant representation, working closely with clients to provide strategic solutions and drive successful outcomes. By leveraging his extensive industry knowledge and expertise, Michael aims to strengthen JLL's position as a market leader in retail real estate in the region. Overall, with his current responsibilities, extensive experience, and strong background, Michael Wheat is well-equipped to drive the growth of retail services for JLL in the North Texas market. Experience
With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years, Michael has held significant positions in the real estate industry. As the Managing Director of leasing and asset management at Cypress Equities, he successfully oversaw all leasing and asset management aspects for a portfolio that ranged in size at times from 5 million to 18 million square feet. Prior to that, he served as the national director of retail at Trammell Crow Company, where he represented reputable clients such as AMC, Chipotle, Natuzzi, Henredon Furniture, Chico’s, Citibank, and Sears. Michael has also held key roles including Vice President of Leasing at The MG Herring Group and Senior Vice President at Weitzman Group. Throughout his career, his diverse experience in landlord and tenant representation has allowed him to develop strong relationships with clients that includes GE Capital, Brookfield, AIG, The Carlyle Group and Stockbridge to deliver exceptional results. Wheat was part of the Dallas/Fort Worth brokerage team that did the initial store rollout for Hollywood Video, Chipotle, Zoe’s Kitchen and Citibank.
