Current responsibilities
Michael Berman is a managing director in JLL’s Downtown Manhattan office. He provides strategic real estate services to building owners and national corporate tenants.
With more than 25 years of experience in Manhattan commercial real estate, including asset management, agency leasing, tenant representation and brokerage advisory services, Michael is a highly-skilled professional with a diverse background.
He has held senior positions with large, national, publicly-traded commercial real estate firms including real estate owners Silverstein Properties, Gramercy Capital Corporation, Equity Office Properties and Brookfield Properties. Over the course of his career, he was responsible for managing national portfolios and premier New York assets.
As the head of leasing at Equity Office Properties, Michael developed regional leasing strategies and performance goals in alignment with overall corporate objectives and marketing conditions for a nine-building portfolio of New York office product totaling 7.5 million s.f. and repositioned core assets—including 1095 Avenue of the Americas, 1540 Broadway and 717 5th Avenue—to maximize each asset’s revenue potential. He also developed leasing and marketing programs which resulted in a portfolio occupancy of 98%.

Education
Michael received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of San Diego. He earned an honorable mention studying at St. Clare’s Hall, Oxford in the United Kingdom.
Affiliations
Michael is a member of the Municipal Art Society of New York, the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of New York, and The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY).
He has served on a number of committees and has held various positions within REBNY.
