Current responsibilities

John Wheeler is responsible for creating and implementing strategies on behalf of corporate occupier and investor clients. He has been with Jones Lang LaSalle for a total of 14 years, having rejoined the New York office in 2009. John’s advisory work extends nationally and has included extensive work on behalf of Wachovia, Goldman Sachs, Gramercy Capital Corp., JPMorgan Chase, Tudor Investments, General Electric, Invesco Real Estate and Credit Agricole.

Mr. Wheeler has 30 years of broad-based experience in commercial real estate. His advisory work extends nationally and has included extensive work on behalf of Wells Fargo, Gramercy Capital Corp., JPMorgan Chase, Tudor Investments, General Electric, Brookfield Properties, Invesco Real Estate and Credit Agricole.

Mr. Wheeler rejoined JLL in 2009 after serving in senior roles at two investment firms—Gramercy Capital and Antares Real Estate Partners, an owner/operator of New York area real estate. While at Gramercy, he directed the company's asset management and leasing operations for portfolios comprising 145 properties and 13.5 million square feet. At Antares, Mr. Wheeler served as President of the firm's commercial division and was responsible for its real estate acquisitions and service businesses, including its proprietary office fund with Goldman Sachs. Fund acquisitions exceeded $550 million of total capitalized value. During this time period, Mr. Wheeler maintained an ongoing affiliation with JLL for long-standing client relationships.

From 2003-2007 Mr. Wheeler served as a Managing Director of JLL's New York Operations, providing tenant and landlord brokerage services, advisory services and business development. From 1997-2003 he was a Senior Director of brokerage services at Cushman & Wakefield. Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, he was a Regional Director for the Galbreath Company (later LaSalle Partners), which he joined in 1990 to establish and run that firm's Lower Manhattan office.

  • 180 Water St.: 450,000 s.f. master lease to City of NY 

  • Wachovia: 250,000 s.f. NY headquarters at 375 Park Avenue

  • Tudor Investments: more than 475,000 s.f. of transactions in NYC and Greenwich, CT

  • National tenant representation work on behalf of Credit Agricole CIB, Gruntal Financial Corporation and GE’s Kidder Peabody & Co. 

  • Agency representations: NYC experience exceeds 13 million square feet and includes work on behalf of JPMorganChase, Invesco Real Estate, GE Asset Management, MetLife, Aegon Insurance, Paramount Group, Gramercy Capital, Orient Overseas and local investors Crown Properties and Melohn Properties.
