Career summary

John is an Executive Managing Director and a member of JLL’s Global Advisory Committee, the U.S. Executive Committee and the Leadership Team within JLL’s Capital Markets, Americas Group. Effective April 1, 2014, he voluntarily resigned his positions as the CEO and Vice Chairman of (NYSE) HFF, Inc., after serving in these capacities since December 2006. He also voluntarily resigned his positions as executive managing director and the managing member of HFF, LP., after serving in these capacities since 2003. As a member of JLL’s Global Advisory and Executive Committees and the U.S. Leadership Team, he along with its other members, are responsible for the overall direction of JLL’s Capital Markets business.

John has more than 38 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, has consummated real estate transactions, in-excess of $30 billion, and has consulted on more than $70 billion of public to private transactions.

John started at HFF in May 1998, and before that he was the managing partner of PNS Realty Advisors. John is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of Pittsburgh and serves on its Executive, Budget, Property & Facilities and Athletic Committees and Chairs its Athletic Committee. He is also an ad hoc member of the Finance Committee of Board of Directors of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), having just completed his recent full-term Board position. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Holy Family Institute and Bidwell Manchester Craftsman’s Guild. John is also as a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Mortgage Bankers Association.
