Current Responsibilities:

John is the National Director of Business Development, where he is focused on expanding our retail portfolio to secure clients seeking retail property management services. He partners with existing and potential clients to gain intimate knowledge of their investment objectives and identify strategic solutions to meet their service needs. Additionally, John collaborates with our national leasing team to source new business opportunities with a concentration on enclosed malls, mixed-use developments, and lifestyle/specialty centers. His in-depth retail knowledge and industry relationships provide clients with the confidence that we can deliver exemplary service and achieve their goals.


John has more than 35 years of real estate experience. Previously, John served as the Retail Market Lead and Agency Leasing Lead for the Atlanta/Southeast Market. He was responsible for the oversight of all operational functions and collaborated with clients and client service teams to develop and implement strategies to maximize asset value. Additionally, he oversaw the retail brokers and provided strategic planning and evaluation of remerchandising and redevelopment of properties. Prior to this role, John was Director of Leasing for our retail portfolio across the U.S. overseeing 32 leasing professionals.

Prior to rejoining JLL, John served as Senior Vice President of the Shopping Center Group at Aronov Realty Management, Inc. where he was responsible for the direction of leasing, management, marketing, specialty leasing, redevelopment, legal and financial activity for a 64-center portfolio comprised of regional malls, lifestyle centers, power centers, and neighborhood centers totaling 15 million s.f.

During his tenure at JLL John has held the position of Regional Leasing Manager where he oversaw leasing activity for 17 centers and secured new business assignments representing $7 million in annual income. Additionally, John was General Manager of Northland Mall in Detroit, with overall responsibility for management, marketing, operations and leasing.

His additional experience includes working at Schostak Brothers & Company, Inc. as a Regional Leasing Manager for the Midwest region. Also, John held senior leasing and management positions with Equity Properties and Development Company and Homart Development. John’s diverse shopping center expertise includes anchor and specialty store relations, redevelopment planning and specialty leasing.

Education and affiliations:

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). John currently serves on the Norcross Development Authority Board of Directors, previously served on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries and the Southfield Development Authority in the metropolitan Detroit area.
