Current responsibilities
Ian Bottrell is the President for the Enterprise Division. Over the course of his 22 years with the firm he has worked across a range of senior roles within our market leading management businesses in Australia, Asia and the US. In his current role he is responsible for a cluster of critical industry verticals, including Consumer Products, Data Centers, Insurance, Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment, Retail and Business Services. Mr Bottrell is based in New York City.
Previous experience
Mr Bottrell began his career as an Officer in the Australian Army, working in a variety of positions around the world including Africa, the Pacific and Eastern Europe. On leaving the Army he managed a specialist practice for a consulting firm and one of the major venues at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games before joining JLL’s Sydney office in 2001. He moved to the firm’s Shanghai office in 2010, then the New York office in 2016.
Mr Bottrell’s expertise covers leading large and diverse teams, customer service, property & integrated facilities management and project management. He has led some of JLL’s biggest and most successful management businesses in Asia Pacific and the United States. In the Asia Pacific role he was based in Shanghai and was responsible for teams based in mainland China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He subsequently moved to New York, first running the Eastern United States before moving into his current role in 2023.
Education and affiliations
Mr Bottrell holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from the University of Sydney / Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).
In addition, Mr Bottrell held a Queen’s Commission in the Australian Army and is a graduate of the Royal Military College Duntroon and the Australian Defence Force Academy. He has also been a Chartered Professional Engineer
