Current responsibilities:
David Houck is the Executive Managing Director leading JLL’s Integrated Portfolio Services (IPS), Industries, and the International Desk (iDesk.) JLL’s IPS clients are occupiers with multiple locations who benefit from JLL’s broad range of real estate transaction services, construction, facility management and technology solutions.
JLL's key industry verticals include banking and financial services, life sciences, healthcare, education, government, data centers, technology, food & beverage, and energy and renewables. The iDesk provides seamless international connectivity and transaction management services for clients in over 80 countries.
Experience:
Over his 30+ year career at JLL, David has served in a variety of leadership capacities at regional and national levels. He participates in our firm’s mentor-protégé program and is a proud recipient of JLL’s highest honor, the Champion of Excellence Award.
Prior to David’s current leadership role, he oversaw our education industry practice where he led a wide variety of on-campus and off-campus projects, including strategic plans, financings, and development/build-to-suit projects. The aggregate value of his experience is in excess of $3 Billion.
David’s has served in a variety of capacities at JLL: he was a leader of the firm’s non-profit practice and tenant representation groups, and he co-founded and managed the Washington, DC office of The Staubach Company (which merged with JLL in 2008.)
David’s clients over the years have included Fortune 500 corporations, many universities, as well as independent Federal agencies and non-profit organizations, including Amtrak, The George Washington University, the Smithsonian Institution, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, SAIC (now Leidos), Sprint, Public Broadcasting Service, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Dartmouth College, the National Gallery of Art, and the United States Postal Service.
David joined JLL’s predecessor Jones Lang Wootton in 1988, and afterwards spent two years at Walker & Dunlop with asset management and leasing of an 800,000 SF office and industrial portfolio before joining The Staubach Company. He began his career with a national equipment lessor, where he structured numerous capital leases and off-balance sheet financings.

Throughout his career, David has received industry awards for his accomplishments and projects, as well as firm-wide recognitions including JLL’s highest honor – the Champion of Excellence Award.
Education:
David earned a degree in Economics from Duke University.
Affiliations:
David is a member of NACUBO and EACUBO. He serves and has served on a variety of non-profit boards, including Junior Achievement of the National Capitol Area, the National Sailing Hall of Fame, the South River Federation, Summit County (UT) Open Space Advisory Committee, and the Greater Washington Board of Trade, where he has chaired the Real Estate Committee and the Executive Networks Program.
David has been an instructor and volunteer for Project REAP (Real Estate Associate Program) for over 10 years. Through CoreNet Global he earned the Institute for Corporate Real Estate’s Masters in Corporate Real Estate (MCR) designation.
