The Menninger Clinic selects JLL to manage development of new Houston Outpatient Center

The 33,000-square-foot facility is expected to be completed early 2022

October 19, 2020

HOUSTON, October 19, 2020 – On behalf of The Menninger Clinic, JLL announced today the firm has been selected to manage development of a new Outpatient Services Center on Menninger’s 50-acre campus near the Texas Medical Center in Houston.

The Menninger Clinic has expanded services during the pandemic for Greater Houston and patients who travel from elsewhere in Texas and the nation to get mental health assessment and treatment. The Outpatient Services Center will become the home to Menninger’s existing Sleep Medicine Service, Brain Stimulation Center, Outpatient Assessment Service, medication management, outpatient consultations and therapy, as well as complementary programs as they are developed.

The Houston-based, nationally ranked nonprofit psychiatric hospital is expected to break ground on the 33,000-square-foot healthcare facility in November.

“I know our donors are as thrilled as we are to get this important project underway,” said Armando E. Colombo, president and CEO, The Menninger Clinic. “The Outpatient Services Center will play a key role in expanding Menninger’s care to more people. Our new facility will allow us to grow and also capitalize on the popularity of telehealth that so many people have benefitted from during the pandemic. Our outstanding clinicians will have the tools to make virtual house calls using the latest technology.”

JLL Senior Vice President Mark Harrison is leading the Project & Development Services (PDS) team.

“We are proud to have been selected to help bring The Menninger Clinic’s vision to reality,” said Harrison. “As one of the nation’s foremost leaders in behavioral health, we know their work and this new Outpatient Center will have a profound and positive impact on the overall health and well-being of many neighbors, friends and families in our community.”

The architect for the center is Kirksey Architecture and the general contractor is Tellepsen, which are both based in Houston.

The project is expected to open February 2022.
