T. Boone Pickens YMCA site in downtown Dallas goes on the market

DALLAS, September 13, 2019 – JLL announced the firm was selected to lead the marketing and sales efforts for the T. Boone Pickens YMCA property in downtown Dallas. The one-acre site is located near the center of downtown Dallas at the intersection of Ross Avenue and North Akard Street.

“After extensive research, thought and consideration, and nearly a year of review, the YMCA Board of Directors approved a recommendation in June to market a potential sale of the Downtown Y property,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President/Chief Executive Officer, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “JLL has been contracted and they will begin the process of marketing the property in coming weeks. However, the sale of the building will be contingent upon finding the right solution for the Y, our members and community.”

JLL Capital Markets Managing Director Michael Swaldi and Vice President Jonathan Carrier are leading the firm’s sales team.

According to JLL Research, downtown Dallas, particularly the area near Klyde Warren Park, has become an attractive and active development area. Since 2012, more than two million square feet of office development has come online, bringing 10,000 new daytime workers into the urban core, along with close to 1,000 new apartment units, as well as related amenities to enhance the area’s overall live, work, and play atmosphere.
