JLL Retail today announces that Sara Hogan has joined the Charlotte office as Vice President. Hogan brings over 18 years of retail leasing experience to JLL and has negotiated transactions for local, regional and high-profile shopping centers throughout her career. She will join Senior Vice President Margot Bizon, who currently oversees retail brokerage for the Carolinas, and Vice President Lindsay Stafford.

In her new role, Hogan will work closely with Bizon and Stafford to continue growing JLL’s retail capabilities and will be instrumental in serving future and existing clients, including Truist Center. Using her extensive network of relationships within the retail community, including landlords, retailers and brokers, she will help build JLL’s agency platform in the Carolinas with some of the market’s most high-profile developers and investors.

“With nearly two decades of experience under my belt, I look forward to joining powerhouses Margot and Lindsay and further expanding JLL’s retail services in the Carolinas,” said Hogan. “I’m eager to begin this next chapter in my career and am excited to hit the ground running, utilizing JLL’s unmatched platform and full-service capabilities.”

Prior to joining JLL, Hogan was the vice president of retail brokerage at Lincoln Harris’s Charlotte office, where she oversaw leasing for approximately 580,000 square feet of existing and newly developed retail, including high-profile assets such as Phillips Place, Legacy Union and Piedmont Town Center. Throughout her career, in addition to dealmaking, Hogan’s experience includes strategic merchandising, budgeting and partnering with lease administration, legal and tenant coordination for open-air, urban, grocery-anchored and mixed-use retail projects throughout the Carolinas, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. Hogan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Bonaventure University in New York and has been a member of Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) since 2004.

“Sara is an industry veteran with an incredible reputation for delivering quality service to her diverse client base,” said Margot Bizon, senior vice president of retail leasing at JLL Carolinas. “Her demonstrated track record and strong industry relationships will be an incredible asset to our team, and we are confident she will be successful in growing our retail brokerage footprint throughout the Carolinas.”

According to JLL’s Retail Recovery report, the retail sector is rebounding, with sales 30.6% above the levels seen at the onset of COVID. The number of retailers filing for bankruptcy has declined to a five-year low, and openings are on pace to exceed closures for the first time since 2016. JLL’s experts predict that open-air centers are retail’s strongest asset, and retailers will continue to eye the Sunbelt and the suburbs as they recover the quickest.
