December 06, 2019

Raleigh, N.C., August 27, 2019 – JLL is pleased to announce that Nakira Carter has been named Raleigh-Durham lead for its Project and Development Services (PDS) team, which manages the development, design, construction and branding of commercial real estate projects across the region. A Vice President with JLL, Carter is the first black female in the country to hold a PDS market lead role.

Through her team of professionals, Carter will direct the design and construction process for JLL clients, helping them define a vision and strategy for their commercial real estate projects and bring them to life. Carter will work with existing business lines to provide a cohesive delivery to clients, as well as manage business development, client relationship management and project delivery, with a focus on interior build-outs, building renovations and capital improvements for JLL clients. Over the past two years, Carter cultivated her leadership skills as PDS Lead Trainer for the Americas, leading training sessions for more than 3,250 project managers in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Prior to that she was a Senior Project Manager with JLL in Raleigh-Durham, overseeing projects such as the delivery of a 25,000-square-foot medical office building for UNC Health Care and the delivery of 60,000 square feet of Class A office space for tenants including G&S Business Communications and Microsoft.

“We are committed to strategically growing our office through the addition of top-tier professionals who will help our clients achieve their ambitions and expanding the diversity of our team in skill set, leadership skills, gender and ethnicity,” said Kimarie Ankenbrand, Managing Director and head of JLL’s Raleigh-Durham office. “With her leadership skills, insight and years of experience, Nakira is a tremendous asset to our team and to our customers as we expand our reach in the Triangle.”

Before joining JLL, Carter served as a Senior Real Estate Development Director with Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse and as a Senior Development Associate with Transom Development, where she was responsible for the development of affordable multifamily and senior housing across North Carolina.

“This office is home for me, and I feel so blessed to rejoin my teammates and to lead our PDS group in one of the fastest-growing markets in the country,” Carter said. “I love that our Raleigh office is leading the nation in terms of percentage of females in brokerage at 40%, and I hope to grow the percentage of women in development as well.”

JLL Carolinas recently signed a lease for 13,268 square feet for its Raleigh-Durham office at Crabtree Terrace, the new mixed-use development at the intersection of Creedmoor Road and Glenwood Avenue, across from Crabtree Valley Mall. With 40 local professionals, the company plans to relocate early next year.
