JLL Atlanta’s Patrick Baughman Honored as Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Young Professional of the Year
The Young Professional of the Year Award honors excellence in civic engagement and business accomplishments, and was granted to Baughman because of his work at JLL and in the community.
JLL Atlanta’s Patrick Baughman has been selected as Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors (ACBR)’s Young Professional of the Year, which honors excellence in civic engagement and business accomplishments. As an Associate on JLL Atlanta’s Tenant Representation Brokerage team, Baughman has distinguished himself as a forward-thinking and results-driven professional who has built upon JLL’s business and fostered the next generation of real estate experts.
“I’m incredibly honored to be selected as this year's ACBR Young Professional of the Year," said Baughman. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to not only grow my career at JLL, but also play an active role in the education and mentorship of the future generation of commercial real estate professionals. At JLL, we're committed to seeing a brighter way, and I look forward to continuing to embody this mentality while serving our clients, future industry leaders, and community. Thank you to my colleagues at JLL, and to ACBR and the Young Council for this recognition."
With more than four years of experience at JLL, Baughman began his career as an intern on the Brokerage team. After completing his internship, he was quickly promoted to Analyst and awarded the JLL Rising Star Award, granted annually to individuals who have made a noticeable impact, delivered on team goals and contributed greatly during a relatively short tenure at the firm.
During his time at JLL, Baughman has exemplified leadership on numerous deals, including an Alpharetta-based manufacturing company expansion. The client was initially in the market for an additional 10,000-square-foot storage space, but with Baughman’s diligent work, he was able to identify a building that would allow the company to grow as they completed several planned mergers and acquisitions. Through this, he successfully turned a small deal into a 90,000-square-foot headquarters relocation. Additionally, Baughman led the deal for a consumer products company looking for a new office space in Central Perimeter. He worked with the client to ultimately negotiate well-below-market deal terms, along with a brand-new buildout on behalf of the landlord. His efforts allowed the landlord to fill a significant amount of vacancy and ultimately increase building value, benefiting both parties tremendously.
In addition to his daily work at the firm, Baughman was selected to lead JLL Atlanta Brokerage’s 2022 summer internship program. From sifting through resumes to conducting interviews, he led a team in curating an outstanding group of interns who were then able to gain hands-on real estate experience. His passion for uplifting young talent and educating the next generation of professionals about the commercial real estate industry is unparalleled, and this year’s internship program garnered incredibly positive feedback from both participants and throughout JLL’s business.
As an active member of ACBR and the Young Council, Baughman led the Education Committee this past year, hosting monthly panel discussions and coordinating various meetings. With a goal of curating events that were exciting and applicable to a younger generation, he orchestrated panels focused on Atlanta’s BeltLine development and best practices for breaking into the real estate industry as a young professional.
Baughman is also actively involved in the community through his work with the Knox Martin Foundation for Brain Cancer Research, a fully accredited 501c3 non-profit with a mission to fund innovative research for aggressive brain cancers. He serves as co-founder and Chairman of the Board for the Foundation, honoring his best college friend, Knox Martin, who passed away in 2020 from a Glioblastoma (GBM), a type of brain tumor for which there is currently little to no funding for treatments or cures. The organization has raised more than $800,000 as seed money for a dedicated research program at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University. The Foundation has a seat on Duke’s brain cancer board, and the lead researcher, Mustafa Khasraw, sits on the Knox Martin Foundation’s board. Baughman and his team plan to grow the Foundation into a multi-million dollar non-profit that ultimately cures this devastating disease.
“Patrick embodies every aspect of ACBR’s Young Professional of the Year, and is a great representation of how our next generation of professionals are stepping up to make Atlanta a better place,” said Ryanne Pennington, JLL Atlanta Brokerage Lead. “Between his commitment to learning the business as quickly as possible, creating innovative solutions for his clients, devoting his free time to our community, mentoring the generation of CRE professionals who started their career during the pandemic and creating awareness for his non-profit, I’m incredibly proud of Patrick’s accomplishments. I’m looking forward to watching him grow and am confident he will continue to make a meaningful impact at JLL and on our amazing city.”
