JLL adds national valuation litigation expertise

Richard Roddewig, Gary Papke and Charles Brigden join JLL’s Valuation & Advisory Services platform

CHICAGO, Jan. 4, 2017 – JLL today announced a trio of real estate valuation litigation experts has joined the company, adding a new service offering to its Valuation & Advisory Services business. Richard Roddewig, Gary Papke and Charles Brigden come to JLL from Clarion Associates, Inc., a real estate appraisal and consulting firm. 

They specialize in expert testimony in complex litigation and administrative review proceedings and have extensive national and international experience in determining the impact of contamination and environmental risks on prices and values. They are also experts in the valuation of historic properties and conservation lands, complex assets and special purpose real estate. They will report to JLL Managing Director Brandon Nunnink.

Roddewig is the former President of Clarion Associates. He currently holds appraisal licenses in more than 20 states and has testified in state and federal courts across the country. He has co-authored 14 books and more than 65 articles in professional journals. Roddewig holds both a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Science degree from the University of Chicago. He earned a bachelor's degree in history and government from the University of Notre Dame.

Papke is the co-developer of the Appraisal Institute's educational seminars on analyzing risks in real estate valuations of special purpose properties. He has testified as an expert witness in state and federal courts, and in arbitration hearings and governmental proceedings throughout the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Gustavus Adolphus College and a Master of Urban Planning Degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Brigden is a certified general appraiser with more than 20 years of experience in real estate development, financing and consulting and specializes in complex valuations assignments, including properties affected by environmental contamination. He has completed assignments in more than 30 states and has testified before administrative and governmental proceedings. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree and a Master of Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin.
