First Annual JLL Spaces Showcase Celebrates Phoenix Winners

The James Agency, Sendoso, Western Window Systems, Offerpad earn top honors

PHOENIX, October 31, 2019 – The Phoenix office of JLL has announced the winners of its first annual Spaces Showcase awards – a national competition designed by JLL to recognize the most unique and innovative workplace designs in a given market. This was the Phoenix market’s inaugural event, held this month at The Yard in Tempe, Arizona.

“We were blown away by the number of submissions that we received for our first showcase,” said JLL Executive Vice President Matt Coxhead. “It underscores that Phoenix is the perfect market for this type of event and that creativity, originality and amazing company cultures are really driving the city’s growth. Small Space Category – The James Agency (1 to 25 employees)

Project: 8,278 square feet at 6240 E. Thomas Rd., Suite 200 in Scottsdale.

Company: Full-service tourism and travel-focused marketing agency.

Architect: Evolution Design Inc.

Space Highlights: Spacious kitchen, “The Park” open meeting space, open-concept offices devoid of cubicles, designated quiet room for brainstorming, front desk styled after a typical boutique hotel (representing the types of partners the agency collaborates with) and “literally every wall” covered in designs made by in-house talent or local artist partners, all wrapped up in a kid- and dog-friendly environment.

Medium Space Category: Sendoso (26 to 100 employees)

Project: 12,000 square feet at 6900 E. Camelback Rd. in Scottsdale.

Company: Leading software platform for sending direct mail, corporate gifts, custom swag and anything else at scale.

Architect: Ware Malcomb

Space Highlights: Flows from work to play with extra-large and fully stocked kitchen, high-tech conference space, open concept offices, floor-to-ceiling windows and wrap-around balcony offering outdoor workspaces and 360 degree views of the Valley – all in a comfortable, dog-friendly environment furnished with fun touches like “funky” rocking chairs and welcoming couches.

Large Space Category: Western Window Systems Headquarters (100+ employees)

Project: 170,000 square feet at 2200 E. Riverview Dr. in Phoenix.

Company: Manufacturer of innovative door systems and windows.

Architect: Ware Malcomb

Space Highlights: Uses design and technology to create connection between office, warehouse and manufacturing areas while catering to the company’s innovative, people-first culture and three-year growth rate of 218 percent. Branded environment features themed conference rooms, collaborative breakout spaces, vivid murals, game room and acoustic glass panels fostering visual connection between the office and manufacturing areas while blocking noise.

People’s Choice Category: Offerpad Headquarters

Project: 38,000 square feet at 2150 E. Germann Rd. in Chandler.

Company: Web-based real estate technology company offering innovative home purchasing and selling solutions.

Architect: Phoenix Design One

Space Highlights: Designed to feel like home with cozy meeting lounges, breakout nooks and walls decorated with “family photos” of Offerpad employees, plus a circular floorplan encouraging departments and the executive team to naturally cross paths, enhancing collaboration and productivity. A floating mezzanine called the “Sun Deck” situated at the center of the office serves as an indoor backyard with games, seating and lawn furniture.

Finalists in the 2019 Phoenix Spaces Showcase include Booking.com (small space category); B2Gnow, Gainsight and Isos Technology (medium space category); and GlobalTranz and Solera Health (large space category).
