Allegheny County Bar Association Extends Lease at Koppers Building

JLL led 23,021-square-foot lease renewal for the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA)

December 10, 2019

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 10, 2019 — JLL is pleased to announce the lease renewal of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA), and its charitable affiliate, the Allegheny County Bar Foundation (ACBF), for its headquarters in the Koppers Building located at 436 Seventh Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa. JLL Senior Managing Director Dan Adamski brokered the 23,021-square-foot deal that extends through December 2030.

In preparation for its 150th anniversary, ACBA President Lori McMaster, the organization’s Board of Governors and its Executive Director, David Blaner, partnered with JLL to evaluate the organization’s occupancy strategy for the next decade. After JLL led a thorough search of the downtown market, the ACBA determined that renovating its current office space in the Koppers Building best satisfied the needs of its nearly 6,000 members.

“The ACBA is thrilled to renew our lease in the Koppers Building,” McMaster said. “As the needs of the legal profession evolve and the roles of bar associations across the country change, we decided to take a thorough look at our office location and space to ensure it was the right space to fit the needs of the Pittsburgh legal community.

“It was critical for us to stay in the heart of downtown, near the courthouses, because some 60 percent of our members’ primary office space is in the downtown central business district, and many more come to downtown for client meetings and court appearances. However, we also wanted a more modern space that would make the ACBA an even better resource for our members.”

“Following the lead and expertise of JLL, we determined that staying in the iconic Koppers Building and renovating our space was the way to go. The location is ideal for our members, and with the forthcoming renovations, the space will have an entirely new look and feel and position us for the future. We couldn’t be more excited.”

JLL echoed those sentiments.

“ACBA plays a vital role in our region and I am honored to have assisted such a prestigious organization within our community,” said Adamski, who is also a member of JLL’s Law Firm Practice Group. “Based on our diligent search, I am optimistic this location will enhance ACBA’s workplace experience and enhance member and employee attraction and retention well into the future.”
