Square Feet

1.1 million

In 2014, a major insurance provider client acquired a 1.1 million-square-foot office building in Washington, D.C. Along with the Class A property came several challenges, including a major upcoming vacancy and the need for considerable system upgrades and significant work throughout the building. To differentiate itself in a competitive market and stand out from other trophy properties, the client decided to go beyond traditional system upgrades and transform the property into a Smart Building.

Creating an integrated network

We designed an integrated building network based on the client’s primary business goals, which enables maximum energy efficiency and provides state-of-the-art technology features and amenities for tenants. It also features enhanced HVAC and lighting control, integrated automation, advanced security, seamless tenant interfaces and a Smart Building mobile app for tenants and visitors.

A smart, better workplace with reduced costs

The new smart building provides a competitive advantage for the client by offering an improved experience to attract new tenants and command higher rent rates. They now have reduced energy and operating costs, improved safety and security, resulting in a more productive workplace experience for employees.
