Why does occupancy planning matter to you?
Occupancy planning (OP) has a very special place in my heart. I came to JLL through the OP channel. I'm traditionally an architect by training, and I was able to transition into corporate real estate by taking a role in occupancy planning and space management. I was able to work my way up through those roles and strategically learned how to manage my client relationships, how to understand their changing business drivers, and how to come to the table as a strategic advisor. That really pushed me forward in my career.
How have you seen occupancy planning evolve over the years?
It used to be a very tactical service line that was based in managing individual seats and move add changes. We have moved into a place of being a strategic advisor where we are understanding our clients' business drivers, helping them to achieve their ambitions through how they utilize and optimize their portfolio.
What is different about working in occupancy planning at JLL?
We are very forward thinking. We are very progressive in the way that we do OP. We are very cutting edge and are always looking for the most innovative way to push our clients forward in how they manage and optimize our space by using technology and data led strategies so that we can achieve the best outcomes for our clients.
Not all our competitors do that and JLL does an excellent job of understanding what our clients need to curate a specific response. We bring to the table our global scale and the resources and innovation that is part of having a very large company where we can share best practices and benchmarks.
It's a huge amplification for our client, and I will absolutely say that OP has been one of the highlights of my career. It's made me who I am today. It's given me so many skills to lead and to work with my clients in a way that pushes them strategically forward and helps them to achieve their ambitions.
