Mega box leases lean on logistics-related industries across the country

  • e-commerce and other logistics-related industries saw the most leasing activity for leases of 1 million square feet or greater in 2018, with 8 out of 17 all leases. The runner up industry is traditional retailers with 3 leases.
  • Even though 2018 saw fewer large leases than 2017, logistics industries’ leases took up a similar percentage of the activity, reaching nearly fifty percent of the share in 2018, keeping in line with 2016 and 2017.
  • 2018 saw the strongest leasing activity, particularly in the 100,000-500,000-square-foot range, but tenants are continuing to seek mega box spaces across a broad spectrum of industries.
  • Leasing activity was evenly spread between tier I and tier II logistics markets.
