  • Forbes recently published a top 10 list of “Rising Cities for Startups.” The list looked at 13 different metrics and St. Louis came in second, only behind Columbus, OH. The Midwest, in particular, ranks favorably with low housing and business costs. The report cites business costs being 57.0 lower in St. Louis than San Francisco. That difference offers significant savings for companies that are looking to control costs in the early stages of growth. Results can be seen across the region as incubator space by T-Rex and The Cambridge Innovation Center have been very successful.
  • In 2014, AOL co-founder Steve Case launched a fund to invest in startups located in underserved cities “Maybe there is too much capital in Silicon Valley, maybe valuations are too high? There is not too much capital in St. Louis or Columbus.” His goal with the fund is to level the playing field for building a company across the country.
