Seattle-Bellevue: The Cascade Industrial Center will bring new opportunities for Snohomish County
The City’s goals are to bring family-wage jobs to the community so residents can have access to lower housing prices and a shortened commute
July 31, 2019
- The Cascade Industrial Center (CIC) includes a total land area of 4,019 acres, of which 57% is in Arlington and 43% within Marysville. Nearly 1,762 acres of the CIC has the capacity for additional development.
- The CIC is located between the two main transportation corridors, I-5 and State Route 9, with multiple infrastructure improvement projects in progress. It’s also located near Paine Field and Boeing, home to a large manufacturing hub and workforce.
- The main attraction to developers in the CIC are the finical incentives. The CIC is located completely within a opportunity zone, which is designed for economic development and job creation. The State also passed Bill 5761, which exempts property taxes. To qualify for the exemption there must be a minimum of 25 new full-time jobs, paying at least $18 an hour and a warehouse over 10,000 square feet.
- The City’s goals are to bring family-wage jobs to the community so residents can have access to lower housing prices and a shortened commute. The CIC currently supports 8,000 jobs, 45% directly in manufacturing with an anticipated goal of 25,000 jobs by 2040.
