  • San Francisco sees a significant influx of employees each day, with the majority concentrated in the CBD. This comes as no surprise as the city has approximately 80.0 MSF of office space, 55.0 MSF of which is located in the North and South Financial Districts.
  • The South Financial District, specifically the newly deemed East Cut Neighborhood (zip code: 94105), sees the largest number of net commuters (difference between occupational residents and the occupation employment), increasing by approximately 84,000 employees a day. Meanwhile, Balboa Park (94112) and the Sunset (94122) see the most commuters leaving their respective locations, leading to negative net migration of a combined 52,000 in daytime population.
  • The Central SOMA plan is poised to infuse a massive combination of office and residential to the area (94107), and while we expect to see commute patterns shift, the net commuter impact may be mitigated by the delivery of new residential units.
