Portland jumped 1 spot to number 4 on the list of people looking to move to a new city in the latest release of Redfin’s migration analysis.

Affordability continues to be the main factor driving Portland’s strong in-migration, with over 40% of residents looking to move to Portland coming from the high-cost metros in the Bay Area and Seattle. Redfin found that median prices in the metro areas seeing the largest net inflow average around $150,000 below prices in the metro areas with the largest net outflow.

The metros with the most people looking to leave were San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and perhaps surprisingly, Denver.
High levels of in-migration are bolstering Portland’s job market, which grew 2.6 percent year-over-year in October, even while unemployment is at a record low of 3.7 percent.
