Multifamily construction in the Kansas City Metro is booming with 55 apartments (totaling 9,234 units) currently under construction. This time last year there had been 1,903 permits in the Kansas City area. However, this year the amount of permits have skyrocketed to 3,229.
There are several projects taking place in Kansas City’s River Market, West Bottoms, and Crossroads. Leading downtown Kansas City’s development is Gallerie with 361 units, expected to be delivered December 2018. Other developments in the area include The View II, totaling 249 units, which is expected to be delivered August 2019 and the Grand, totaling 189 units, which is expected to be delivered March 2019. We can expect to see over 8,000 units built by the end of 2019.
As Kansas City’s population and employment continues to grow, several areas will continue to see revitalization projects from multifamily housing, to hotels, and convention centers.
