Chicago O’Hare regains crown as busiest U.S. airport in 2018
February 11, 2019
- Just a few weeks after O’Hare International Airport (ORD) announced a $8.5 Billion expansion over ten years and that they narrowed their architects to a list of five, ORD passed Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as the busiest in the country. According to the FAA, O’Hare serviced over 900,000 arrivals or departures, 83.3 million passengers in 2018 - 228,219 per day!
- Why does it matter?
- With a litany of international firms establishing a presence in Chicago over the past 12 months (Rio Tinto, Showpad, IM Bank) as well as countless firms expanding their Chicago real estate footprint, and will continue to host executives, employees and clients coming in and out of the city.
- According to the FAA in 2018, there was $446.8 Billion in annual earnings from aviation-relations jobs. Being back on top of the U.S. airport rankings will act as a further stimulus to not only the employees of the airport itself, but Chicago.
