Top five MBTA stops for year-over-year percentage increase in Boston riders for 2018

- MBTA provides ridership data for each of the 62 stops on the MBTA network that require a gated entry point.
- The MBTA averages about 700,000 to 800,000 weekday riders per month on the subway, with peak ridership occurring in April, September, and October. The Red Line has the greatest share of riders capturing 18 percent while the Blue Line has the least carrying 5 percent of riders. Downtown crossing averages the highest amount of gated entries with commuters recording over 7.5 million entries per year.
- Out of the 62 tracked stops, only 17 had a year-over-year increase in ridership with net ridership down by 2.6 million people from 2017 to 2018.
