- Boston is the epicenter of the regional tech world. Consider that between 2012 and 2017, the city grew by 521 tech companies – through relocations, startups, etc. Tech establishments grew by 76% in only five years.
- Large tech companies now have outposts in the city. Combined with a robust startup scene makes Boston one of the premier locales nationwide.
- Suburbs huddled around I-495 posted impressive growth. Marlborough (+23), Lowell (+20), Foxborough (+14), Southborough (+14), and Walpole (+12) performed well as incubators of tech firms for relatively small cities.
