Augmented Reality: Not just for video games

How AR helps train data center employees

November 24, 2021

The pandemic had a massive impact on the data center industry and supercharged a whole host of digital opportunities. Data center owners are hustling to respond to record-breaking demand for virtual connectivity, streaming services and cloud storage, all while dealing with a pretty significant labor shortage. And even when they do manage to hire new staff, they’ve got to figure out how to maintain uptime while delivering proper training.

It’s highlighted an on-going challenge: Educating and upskilling facilities management staff can be costly and time-consuming. But the cost of human error could be even greater.

What if there was a way to teach, assist and reduce the margin of error? Well, there is. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) training provides a way for industry experts to guide new workers in day-to-day activities and still provide a hands-on experience. Watch this 2-minute video as Bryon Price, Global Director of Technical Training, JLL, gives a glimpse of AR training in real-time.
