New York tech report

The total tech job count in New York City grew by 2.4 percent over the quarter to 73,500 payrolls in June. Total tech jobs continue to expand in the city, as overall payrolls have grown by 3.7 percent year over year and by 64 percent since December 2007.

Tech venture capital funding soared to $2.3 billion in the second quarter – the second highest quarterly total in the last three years – following a slight dip during the first quarter. Overall venture capital funding was more than $11.0 billion in the New York area during 2017, marking a post-2000 high. After raising nearly $5.3 billion in the first quarter, venture capital funding is off to a strong start in 2018.
