Current responsibilities

Rick O’Brien is responsible for the development and leadership of Industrial brokerage services with the Pittsburgh office of JLL. With a constant focus on maximizing business results for his clients, Rick strives to deliver and interpret relevant information and consult on issues critical to the success of his client’s real estate projects.

Experience

Rick has provided real estate brokerage services since 1992. He has affiliated with Jones Lang LaSalle since December of 2009. He has achieved Top Gun status, recognizing superior client service. Previously, he was with Grubb & Ellis, a national real estate brokerage firm. He was a charter member of the logistics practice group and was a top performing industrial broker, achieving Top 10 status nationally and served on the Industrial Practice Group committee. Rick has been a speaker on industrial real estate and has delivered real estate services on behalf of his clients on a local, regional, and national basis. He has been instrumental in sales and leasing of over twelve million square feet of industrial/office space, over twenty-four million square feet of land sales/development totaling over $565,000,000 in volume over the last five years. He has represented developers (Al Neyer, Chapman Properties, Castlebrook Development, Sampson Morris Group), corporate real estate (FedEx Ground, Shell Chemical, Eaton, Verizon), asset managers and real estate investors (Pittsburgh Business Properties, STAG Industrial, and First Industrial).

Education and affiliations

A native of Pittsburgh, Rick holds an M.B.A. from the Katz School of Business, University of Pittsburgh and is a graduate of Marietta College. He was accepted as a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), recognizing superior production levels and experience with industrial real estate brokerage. Rick served as Treasurer and is a pastpresident of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the SIOR. Rick practiced accounting from 1985 to 1991, and was a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
