Global Chief Financial Officer, United States
This International Women’s Day and every day, we are proud to recognize our inspiring women leaders and allies at JLL.
Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a genuine maverick of our time and I am inspired by her life and work. Best known as a current sitting justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, Ginsburg has tirelessly dedicated her legal career to gender equality and women's rights. She has passion and wherewithal to see beyond her role as a lawyer and judge, and uses her her talents and position to strategically leverage the legal system to structurally remove gender inequality. Last year, Ginsberg was the recipient of the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture. Awarded annually, the Berggruen Institute stated that it recognizes "thinkers whose ideas have profoundly shaped human self-understanding and advancement in a rapidly changing world.” I couldn’t agree more!
Why does inclusion matter to you?
In today’s world, it’s critical to me for an organization to reflect on the composition of its workforce and ensure that it represents the world around it. Our workplaces are not isolated environments. They are an embodiment of our global ecosystem comprised of individuals with incredibly varied ideas and points of view. Organizations deliver great value to society when all ethnicities and genders are respected and given equal opportunities. Organizations that embrace diversity and inclusion also achieve greater levels of creativity and innovation, are more competitive and have a greater ability to bridge talent gaps. This enables them to better serve their clients and enhance bottom-line performance, employee satisfaction and retention, and ultimately the organization’s contribution to the world.
