Jody Thornton serves as JLL's Executive Chairman of Capital Markets, Americas, overseeing various initiatives and strategic leadership of more than 2,000 capital markets professionals across the United States, Canada and Latin America. His responsibilities extend to serving on the Americas Executive Committee and co-leading the Capital Markets Industrial Group.
Jody began his real estate career in 1984 after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin and a brief tenure in public accounting with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. He was a founding partner of HFF L.P., joining HFF's predecessor firm, Holliday Fenoglio & Company in 1992. He became Director and Vice Chairman of HFF, Inc. in November 2006, preceding it's IPO in 2007. In 2014, Jody assumed the role of President of JLL Capital Markets, Americas, until his appointment as Executive Chairman in 2025.
He maintains strong ties with his alma mater, serving on the Executive Council for the Real Estate Finance and Investment Center at the McCombs School of Business. Jody holds board positions with East-West Ministries Partnership, First Liberty Institute, TCU Center for Real Estate and CapRock Industrial Advisory Board.
Outside work, Jody enjoys family time, traveling to Colorado, golfing and working out.
