The craft beer guidebook to real estate
Summer 2017

The craft beer industry has grown at a remarkable pace. From 2011 to 2016, 36 states more than doubled their annual production-nearly half of those tripled it. That expansion is continuing across the country, strengthening both large and small markets alike.

Craft breweries predominantly occupy aged industrial properties, followed by retail and flex space. They've helped revitalize neighborhoods and communities by creating thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue. Once obsolete, properties such as door knob factories or cinemas-even churches-are now enjoying life as successful craft breweries, attracting residents and tourists with high-quality beer and a friendly atmosphere.

Since the 1990s, competition has dramatically increased. Consumers are demanding diverse options, and breweries will need to differentiate themselves as a result. One particularly effective way of doing that is to find a location that provides a unique experience for the consumer.
