Portland ranked #6 best places to live in the US

• Portland ranked 6th as the “best places to live” by US World & News’ 2018 annual report. The ranking takes into consideration good value, desirability, strong job market, and a high quality of life.

• The jump from 32nd place to number 6 was largely attributed to a strong job market and increased net migration.

• Unemployment now stands at 3.7 percent, below the national average of 4.1 percent. Strong growth in the construction sector and Education and Health Services have fueled job growth in recent years.

• Since 2014, the metro region has consistently added more than 30,000 new residents per year, with over 100,000 net new residents migrating from other states and countries in the past 4 years.

• In Portland, nature is within close proximity with two mountain ranges and the coast all within 1.5 hours from the heart of downtown, making Portland the most desirable city on the list. Portland’s airport makes traveling to and from Portland a breeze and has been ranked the best domestic airport in the US for 5 years in a row.
