Washington State Convention Center’s $1.6 billion addition

•In the past five years, the Washington State Convention Center has missed out on more than $1.7 billion from over 300 events it was unable to host due a lack of space and availability. It is the smallest major-city convention center on the West Coast and ranks number 55 in size nationally. The addition, expected to be completed in 2020 and totaling almost 1.6 million square feet, will add over 430,000 square feet of exhibition space, ballroom space and meeting rooms to its existing capacity.

•The WSCC Addition site is bordered by Pine and Howell Streets and 9th and Boren Avenues, where the Convention Center transit station currently operates and will permanently close in 2018.
