Eden Prairie leads suburban tech market’s labor force

  • Minneapolis and St. Paul host 20 percent of the metro's tech employment, but as we've mapped out the total labor pool by city we identify the suburban tech markets anchored by heavy-hitters.
  •  Beyond Minneapolis and St. Paul, a crescent of tech labor exists that spans clockwise from the Southeast to the Northwest lead by Eden Prairie in the Southwest. OptumInsight, Stratasys, MTS Systems and logistics giant C. H. Robinson are samples of large companies that attract tech talent to the City. The Southwest submarket is Located within the bulk of Minnesota's educated population, a priority for tech related businesses.​
  • Ranked in order from largest to smallest tech pool: Eagan, Plymouth and Maple grove combine for the next 10 percent share of the labor pool depth. Here, globally known firms like Thomson Reuters (Eagan), Cargill (Plymouth) and Boston Scientific (Maple Grove) maintain a tech heavy presence. The three benefit from an up to 20 percent rental discount to the Minneapolis CBD and in Eagan's case, adjacency to both CBD's.
