Phoenix becomes one of the first LEED-certified cities

  • ​​Phoenix has been named one of the first LEED –certified cities along with San Jose, Denver, Atlanta, Washington D.C. and Chicago. All selected cities will receive a grant giving financial assistance towards the completion of LEED certification, education and tech support through out the metropolitan area.

  • In order to achieve LEED status buildings are evaluated across 14 crucial metrics, including energy, water, waste, transportation, education, health, and safety and awarded their status on the number of metrics they achieve.

  • Delivered in 2017, a 400,000 square foot distribution tilt-up building won a LEED Platinum status due some of the features, natural outdoor walk  paths, modern cooling system and conservation of millions of gallons of water every year.

  • Phoenix currently has a total of 25,419,326 square feet of space in categories including Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum LEED Certified.​
