Kansas City’s unemployment rate is consistently shrinking

  • ​The Kansas City Metro area is its lowest unemployment rate in over 10 years. By the end of 2017 Kansas City’s unemployment was sitting low at 3.3% compared to the U.S. average of 4.1%

  • From November 2016 to November 2017 the Missouri side added 6,400 jobs while the Kansas side added 6,600 jobs. Professional and business services had the greatest employment growth rate with a 5% increase. Trade, transportation, and utilities were the industries that had the highest employee count at 217,100 employees.

  • As of February 2018, Kansas City  ranks among the top third of metropolitan areas with the lowest unemployment rates.
