San Francisco County’s population growth continues to slow

• San Francisco County population grew 0.9% during 2017.  Growth slowed from previous years.

• San Francisco County’s supply constrained housing market has led to a supply-demand imbalance that has put upward pressure on both rents and prices.

• Rising and expensive housing prices are contributing factors to the slower growth. They have made the area unaffordable to many residents, driving domestic out-migration and also making some people reconsider plans to move to the area.
