Minnesota is 2nd best state in the nation, among the top for its quality of life and economic opportunity

  • According to U.S. News and World Report’s annual “Best States” rankings, Minnesota is the second-best state in the nation, behind only Iowa. U.S. News’ rankings factor in metrics on health care, education, economy, infrastructure, and other topics that impact its residents’ satisfaction.

  • Minnesota always lands at the top of the list for its quality of life. Ranking number 2 in this particular study, U.S. News defines the category as a blend of social and natural environment metrics. High civic engagement and clean water and air are much more common in Minnesota than in other states.

  • Also noteworthy is Minnesota’s #3 ranking for opportunity—a factor of economic opportunity (i.e., its Gini Index), equality, and affordability. This state has the fifth lowest poverty rate and the fifth smallest gender employment gap in the United States. A robust economy and an incredibly productive workforce set Minnesota apart, as proven by yet another list of rankings.
