Baltimore ranks 3rd in nation for best cities for women in tech

• In Smart Asset’s 2018 rankings for best cities for women in tech, Baltimore came in third in the nation overall, posting the second most rapid growth in tech employment in the survey. The rankings took into consideration city’s gender pay gap and the number of tech jobs filled by women in addition to overall tech employment growth.

• In addition to tech growth, Baltimore has outperformed the national average and competing markets in the number of tech jobs filled by women. At 31.9 percent, Baltimore came in fourth in the rankings for percentage of tech workforce filled by women.

• Growth in Baltimore’s tech workforce has helped drive the expansion of flexible workspace options in the market. The amount of flexible workspace in Baltimore has tripled since 2010. The majority of that space has fallen to date within Baltimore City, where 89 percent of the area’s coworking space is currently located.​
