More people are relying on fewer cars to get to work

  • ​The increase of “Taxi, motorcycle, bike and other” can most likely be attributed to the rise of ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft. However, public transit has also increased ahead of the amount that employment has increased during the same period of time. This indicates that a large share of new employees in the metro area are using public transportation.

  • By the numbers: 23% of management, business, science, and arts occupations use a mode of transportation other than driving alone. 21% of sales and office occupations use a mode of transportation other than driving alone. 44% of commuters (and counting) do not drive to work. ​
