Here’s where the largest deals occurred in the Oakland Metro in 2017

  • ​Oakland Metro’s market fundamentals maintained steady footing throughout 2017. Strong leasing activity this year indicates that Oakland Metro is a top contender among the greater Bay Area market. Real estate costs, access to talent, and reducing commuter stress are some of the primary drivers for tenants and investors. Migration/expansion activity surpassed 2.0 million square feet since 2010, and more than 58.0 percent of those deals landed within Oakland Metro. ​

  • San Francisco-based tenants inked the largest deals in 2017, defined by expansions of Blue Shield in Q1, Delta Dental in Q3, and Clovis Oncology in Q4, all of which are located within Oakland’s CBD. In Alameda, South San Francisco-based life science company Exelixis will be relocating to 110,000 square feet at Harboy Bay Business Park in 2018. Zymergen, Inc. is expanding within Emeryville, leasing 125,150 square feet at The Atrium as well as an additional 176,000 square feet in several buildings at Emery Bay Center. ​
