2018 to overtake 2013 with most multi-family deliveries in Minneapolis within last ten years

  • As there seems to be an endless flow of new apartment deliveries throughout the city, 2018 will post recent records.  The City of Minneapolis will see over 2,000 new units delivered this year. That’s about 200 units or a ten percent increase over the prior high of 1,968 units delivered in 2013. These deliveries will come at a time when the Minneapolis Metro is experiencing the highest occupancy rate in the nation among large metros at 97.3 percent. The City of Minneapolis itself is slightly lower but still notably high at 95.3 percent.

  •  Uptown and the North Loop that have historically seen the highest growth, will see continued additions but 2018 will add new housing across more new neighborhoods than previously seen over the past ten years. East Town, and Northeast Minneapolis will mop-up about 850 units, while along the Green Line, Prospect Park will add two large projects and 651 new units (Rise at Prospect Park and Brickhouse Lofts) for a share of thirty percent of all new 2018 MUH deliveries.
