Large apartment complexes take hold in downtown

​In the last five years, Milwaukee has seen a resurgence in the downtown multifamily market. Since 2013, 34 apartment buildings have either been completed or are under construction with an expected 2018 completion date. The sharp increase in product inventory may worry some who believe high vacancy rates are on the horizon, however the leasing success of these properties has been apparent: of the 14 buildings whose occupancy has stabilized, 13 have reached 100% occupancy.  2018 will serve as a defining year for Downtown Milwaukee’s multifamily market. With 1,485 units expected to become available, which is 78% more than 2017, we will get a clear view of the direction the market is going in and if more locals follow the current trend of calling downtown their home.​
