Utah exhibits fastest growing economy in western region

•Two key indicators of a growing economy, and has potential for more growth, are increases in both labor force and employment levels. Comparing the 12 states in the western region in these two categories shows positive growth in each except Wyoming, which endured decreases in both labor force and employment. While some states like Nevada and Arizona saw employment increases that outpaced labor force growth, which raises questions on the sustainability of their job growth, other states like Utah, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Colorado showed a more balanced growth in each.

•Utah also stands out by having both the highest 12-month employment (3.4%) and labor force growth (3.0%), which gives it the fastest growing economy and the potential for continuing that growth going forward.
