Spending in U.S. construction to hit $1.2 trillion in 2017, with strong growth in transport and lodging sectors.

​​​As we near the end of 2017, construction is on pace to close out another strong year – with nearly 4% higher spending on construction than 2016 levels. Looking at the top 5 largest growth sectors, we can begin to see where activity picked up throughout the year.

Transportation: A significant uptick in airport renovation and expansion work drove a substantial 13.5% increase.

Lodging & educational: 2017’s strong economy has increased consumer spending and interest in both sectors.

Healthcare: The U.S.’s aging population and expansion of outpatient facilities drove continued growth in the sector.
