Coworking and shared office space is on the rise in Sacramento’s office market

  • While coworking has not been a trend we have seen take off in Sacramento, it is picking up steam. With the rise in remote working and flexible office space, shared and coworking offices are being preferred by many startups craving flexibility and seeking collaboration with other entrepreneurs.
  • The number of locations and total square footage of coworking space in Sacramento has more than doubled since 2009 with five locations opening in 2017 alone. There is a considerable number of current coworking requirements and expansions that could land over the next 24 months.
  • The Urban Hive is the most recent example of coworking’s explosive growth in Sacramento. The local coworking operator opened up a brand new 15,000 square foot location at The Cannery in Midtown at the end of November, doubling its existing footprint with another 10,000 square feet for additional expansion. Brandon Weber, founder of Urban Hive, is also in the process of opening I/O Labs, a startup incubator at 7th & J Street by early 2018.
