Millennials face a dilemma in Seattle with home prices increasing and limited affordable options

•With home prices still surging, the Seattle region remains among the hottest housing markets in the country. Although local home-price increases had slowed for the past few months, the Case-Shiller Home Price Index shows that single
family home prices across Seattle grew 10.8 percent year-over-year in December 2016, followed by Portland, Denver, Tampa, and Dallas.

•A recent survey conducted by EMC Research points out that Millennials, adults 18 to 35 years old, in Puget Sound are optimistic about the future of the region, but are concerned about the high cost of living, especially housing. It appears that most millennials want to stay in the region, but nearly half of them think they will need to move further out in order to afford the life they want.
